Thanks for all your detailed and thoughtful help. The focus on our particular situation, with careful financial analysis, has been enormously helpful. The graphs comparing alternative approaches, and the conversation we had going over the claiming and restricting process was right on target, and I feel confident we can comfortably move forward.

Thank you so much for your time yesterday and the excellent advice. I went to my computer and checked out your suggestions. You were absolutely right and the changes you suggested should put an immediate $750 in my bank and the prospect of another $3,000 over the next two years for just filling out one form.

What is more I appreciated your sensitive and authoritative approach. I had expected hard-sell and got helpful. It has made my conference. In fact it has more than paid for the conference – three times over.

Once again, I am grateful and will stay in touch for more advice as our plans develop.

Very truly yours,

Mark L Clifford

It was a pleasure to meet you and your lovely wife at the conference in Phoenix over the weekend. You met a bunch of people, I know. For me, the meaning was especially poignant.

Your book has changed my life. You showed me a way to do something that I had no prior conception of, and gave me a new direction. Not only that, but the focus has given me new energy and excitement. It was a decidedly uplifting experience!

This weekend has allowed me to formulate a plan to achieve my new goal. You were able to answer a few questions for me and when I presented the information to my partner, she now sees how this is possible. (Wish I could get her to read your book!).

Thanks for being out there! Maybe we can get together in Mexico

Hi Steve,

I wanted to contact you to thank you for your excellent book.  I have read it a couple of times and find it very useful in my planning for retirement.  I particularly like the emphasis on retiring overseas as it is a unique perspective that I think quite a few people will entertain.  I found your explanation of the supposed apocalypse of the Social Security system to be very logical and the information backing it up makes a lot of sense.  Sometimes we need to be reminded of the past and how we are simply revisiting it like with the 1983 Ronald Reagan solution.

Thanks again for your help.

I had the great pleasure of seeing Steve Garfink’s presentation about Social Security at an International Living Retire Overseas Conference in Atlanta, GA. At the time, as a brand-new fifty-something, I’d never thought a lot about Social Security income, and it was very interesting to learn the basics– especially that there might be something there for us, by the time we reach retirement.

I’ve since purchased and read Steve’s Book, Retire in Luxury on Your Social Security, for my own research on GenX Retirement. Not only has it been an excellent source of information for my future, it has been very helpful as I try to navigate the maze and help my 80-year-old mother with her financial affairs.

Working with Steve has helped my husband and me gradually bring in to focus our financial picture as we speed toward the time of retirement.  Discovering that we qualified for a particular benefit through Social Security was a pleasant surprise.  We could see how that allowed us to create a filing strategy that brought the maximum benefit possible.  We were able to compare scenarios that included moving overseas early, later and a scenario that included not moving at all.  This information has helped us be much clearer in our planning and decision making.
